"New Directions"
High Risk Group for Females:

Do you know...?

• Girls who have experienced trauma are more likely
to be involved in gangs, drug / alcohol abuse and
violent behavior.

• Girls make up the fastest growing segment
of the juvenile justice system in Illinois.

• The annual average cost for one teen to be locked
in a juvenile detention facility is $76,095.

The New Directions program is geared towards high-risk young ladies between the ages of 14-18. Similar to the U-Turn program it is an intensive life skills training group. The focus of this group is to help young women develop the skills necessary to be successful. The 12 week group meets twice a week at the YC office from 3:30pm to 6:30 pm. This three month program will focus on: Anger management and Conflict Resolution, Job Readiness, Healthy Relationships, Healthy Self Image and Self-Esteem, Dealing with Trauma and Future goal setting.
